NATO soldier killed in Taliban attack in Afghanistan

A soldier with NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) was killed in an insurgent attack in southern Afghanistan on Tuesday, the military said in a statement, reported DPA

The ISAF statement did not disclose the nationality of the deceased, nor give the location of the attack. Most of the troops stationed in the southern region are from Britain, Canada, the Netherlands and the United States.

More than 500 foreign soldiers have died in so far this year, according to iCasualties.org, an independent group that tracks military fatalities in Afghanistan.

A total of 150,000 international troops - about 100,000 of them US soldiers - are currently stationed in the country.
