Two soldiers with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force were killed Thursday in separate incidents in eastern Afghanistan, the military alliance said, dpa reported.

An ISAF solider was killed when someone wearing an Afghan National Police uniform turned his weapon on the service member in the east of the country, ISAF said in a statement.

Afghan Interior Ministry official Sediq Sediqqi said the incident took place in Paktika, a volatile border province near Pakistan. He said they could not confirm if the killer was an Afghan policeman or just an insurgent in Afghan police uniform.

Since March 2009, there has been at least 24 incidents where a member of the Afghan security forces or someone wearing a uniform used by them killed coalition forces personnel.

This year alone, there has been at least 10 incidents in which Afghan security personnel attacked Western allies.

In another incident, an ISAF service member died following an insurgent attack in eastern Afghanistan, the military alliance said, but did not give further details.
