Thousands of Afghans protested Wednesday for the second day the "burning of the Koran" by NATO-led troops, officials and eyewitnesses said, DPA reported.
Protests erupted in different parts of Kabul city and also in the eastern city of Jalalabad and the western city of Herat, Afghan officials said.
Eyewitnesses said protests turned violent in some ares as the demonstrators destroyed cars and shops.
On Monday, foreign troops "improperly disposed" of Islamic religious materials, including copies of the Koran, at the Bagram air base, according to the NATO-led coalition.
Thirteen people were injured when international forces fired "non-lethal munitions" at the protesters in front of the air base on Tuesday.
