Gunmen in eastern Afghanistan attacked a police officer and shot dead two of his children, a government spokesman said Sunday, dpa reported.
The police guard in Ghazni city was driving home with his children Saturday evening when gunmen open fired on his car.
"His four-year-old girl and 14-year-old boy were killed by gunshots," provincial governor spokesman Fazil Sabawoon said, adding that the police guard survived.
While no group has claimed responsibility, an official who spoke on condition of anonymity blamed Taliban militants for the attack.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan's interior ministry said that 28 Taliban insurgents have been killed in military operations across the country in the last 24 hours.
