An Afghan soldier shot dead one of the NATO-led foreign forces at a joint military base in southern Afghanistan, officials said Tuesday, dpa reported.
The International Security Assistance Forces said "an individual wearing an Afghan National Army uniform" shot dead one of its soldiers Monday.
"The incident is currently under investigation," it said, without giving further details.
A press officer at the Afghan military's 215th Corps in Helmand province confirmed the Monday attack in Greshk district.
"A soldier of the army shot dead a British soldier in a joint military base," said Mohammad Rasool Zazai. "The attacker was also killed when British troops returned fire."
Nearly 60 foreign soldiers were killed in insider attacks in 2012.
