A bomb went off in eastern Afghanistan on Wednesday, killing two children and injuring four civilians, the local governor's office said in a statement, dpa reported.
The bomb, which was hidden next to a shop in the main bazaar of Sabari district in the eastern Khost province, exploded as a police patrol went by, it added.
In a separate incident, an education department official was shot dead by gunmen in the eastern Nangarhar province, the Education Ministry said.
Nobody has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
