A British diplomat has been found dead in Jamaica and police are investigating the circumstances, Britain's Foreign Office said on Thursday, according to Reuters.
The body of honorary consul John Terry was found outside his home near the tourist resort of Montego Bay on Wednesday, local media reports said.
The 65-year-old was found with a cord and a piece of clothing tied around his neck and he appeared to have been beaten, website of the The Gleaner daily newspaper said.
"We can confirm the death of the British honorary consul in Montego Bay," said a Foreign Office spokesman.
"The Jamaican police are investigating the circumstances and we are in close touch with them."
Terry had worked in the tourism sector for about 30 years, The Gleaner said.
