Barcelona victimized with A/H1N1 virus

FC Barcelona became the latest victim of the A/H1N1 swine flu virus after Toure  and Eric Abidal had been diagnosed of the disease on Friday, Xinhua reported.

Three weeks ago, second division Betis were forced to cancel a game due to around half of its squad being infected, while Primera Liga side Osasuna currently had four players out of action with the virus.

The midfielder from Cote d'Ivoire and the French international left back have both been isolated from the rest of their team to avoid further risk of contagion.
Both are unavailable for Saturday's game away to Athletic Club Bilbao and almost certainly Tuesday's Champions League clash at home to Inter Milan.

Abidal would not have played in any case due to an injury he picked up during France's World cup qualifying game against the Republic of Ireland last Saturday.

"The club's medical services are working in accordance with the protocol established by the Ministry of Health, isolating the player, treating the symptoms and applying the correct medical hygiene," informed a communique issued by the club.
