Polish police Sunday announced recovery of the "Arbeit macht frei" (work brings freedom) sign that had hung over the gate to the Nazi death camp Auschwitz in Poland, dpa reported according to the Polish Press Agency PAP.
Police said they had arrested five men between age 20 and 39 for the theft.
The sign was stolen stolen Friday morning in what officials called a "profanation" and insult to the camp's tragic history.
