Prime Minister Mykola Azarov is outraged by the events that occurred last night at the Independence Square in Kyiv, but is not ready to make definitive conclusions due to conflicting reports of who is guilty of provocation, Ukrinform reported.

Azarov wrote this on his Facebook page on Saturday.

"I am deeply concerned and outraged by what happened at night on the Independence Square. Those reports from different sides, which I have at the moment, do not allow to make firm conclusions: who is responsible for this provocation," Azarov wrote.

According to him, an investigative group involving prosecutors has been set up to clarify the situation and give expert legal assessment of all parties to the conflict. It must be an objective assessment, in spite of everything, the prime minister said, expressing confidence that it will be done, for all the actions, all events are documented.

"This group is tasked to conduct an investigation as soon as possible and give the public a clear answer: who, what for, and what punishment must be carried. Now one thing is clear: the one who is not interested in such a scenario that has developed is the government. On the contrary, our task is to maintain peace and stability in the country.

"I have repeatedly said and I repeat once again: the people who legitimately and peacefully express their protest - our fellow citizens whose rights we must protect. These people express their support for European integration, that is, the policy that was pursued and will be pursued by the president and government. We appreciate their opinion, their position and conduct a dialogue with them, as with other members of our society," Azarov wrote.

He called on all the people in this difficult, emotionally tense situation not to yield to provocations and not to believe in all sorts of rumors, soberly and prudently assess the facts, separating them from speculation.
