An international conference on women's rights opens in Dagestan's capital Makhachkala on Wednesday.
"The conference is held for all women, irrespective of their faith or nationality," the director of the Dagestani Centre for Gender Studies, Khatima Omarova, told Itar-Tass.
Representatives from Azerbaijan, Great Britain, Germany, India, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and 15 Russian regions will participate.
The conference will run till June 26. The main aim of the forum is to develop common approaches and strategies for women's rights in polycultural, poly-ethnic and polyconfessional regions, as well as to contribute to the strengthening of traditions and a dialogue among organizations working in the sphere of the protection of women's interests.
