Ammunition depot blast in southern Lebanon

A blast rocked an ammunition depot in southern Lebanon on the outskirts of Khirbit Silim Tuesday, local channel MTV reported.
  
The security forces started investigating the incident as reports said that the blast was the result of leftover bombs from the Israeli-Lebanese war in July 2006, while other reports quoting security sources said that the depot belongs to the Lebanese Shiite armed group Hezbollah which contained artillery shells, missiles and automatic weapons, Xinhua reported.
  
Hezbollah and Israel fought a devastating 34-day war in 2006 in an attempt by Israel to destroy the arsenal of the Shiite group, but Hezbollah announced later the same year that it had regained its military force and was more ready than before.
  
However, UN resolution 1701 ended the war and called for the cease of hostile activities between the two sides, it also called for the deployment of Lebanese army troops south of the Litani River in southern Lebanon and prohibited the military presence and activities of Hezbollah in the region.
