Eight people have been killed, 5 persons went missing and 9 others wounded, after a landslide triggered by a flash flood hit a village at Palopo district of South Sulawesi province Sunday evening, head of crisis center of the Health Ministry Rustam Pakaya said here on Monday.
  
Rescue for those missing was underway, spokesman of the provincial rescue team Abdul Gani said.  "Rescuers are struggling to evacuate five people who are still buried under the soil," he told Xinhua over phone from the province, Xinhua reported.
  
Heavy rains were blamed for the flash flood which occurred at 11:30 p.m. local time (1430 GMT).  "The village is located at the mountainous area, where most of forest on its upper land has been cut," said Gani.
  
Indonesia has been frequently hit by landslides and floods after heavy rains.
