Three dead in Peshawar explosion

Three people have been killed in an explosion outside a police station in the Pakistani city of Peshawar, BBC reported.

A number of other people were reported injured, and the building itself in Badh Ber, south of the city, was seriously damaged.

The north-western city has been frequently targeted by militants recently, and this is the fifth attack in just over a week.

More than 100 people were killed in a blast at a market a fortnight ago.

Attacks across Pakistan have dramatically increased as the army continues its offensive against the Taliban in the South Waziristan region.

The latest attack came despite police firing on a vehicle as it approached a police checkpoint at Badh Ber, seven miles (12 km) from the centre of Peshawar, a police official told the Associated Press news agency.

However, the driver was still able to detonate the explosives in the vehicle.
