A US-made F5E fighter jet crashed on a training flight Wednesday in north-east Thailand, killing the pilot, air force officials said, DPA reported.
Flying Officer Chatchawan Rassamee, the sole pilot of the jet, died in the crash which occurred at 11:55 am (0455 GMT) in Khutkhaopun district of Ubon Rachathani province, about 480 kilometres north-east of Bangkok.
"He was on a training flight," Royal Thai Air Force spokesman Group Captain Pongsak Saemakcahi said. "We are investigating the cause of the crash."
Production of F5E fighters, a regular item in the United States Air Force in the 1970s and 1980s, ended in 1987. It was not immediately known how old the crashed F5E was.
