G20 summit in Seoul to take place November 11-12

South Korea is to play host to the fifth G20 summit on November 11 and 12, the preparation committee said Friday.

The date was chosen to allow delegates to travel on to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in Japan on November 13 and 14, DPA reported.

The decision marked the "start of a full-fledged voyage towards the G20 summit," said a committee spokeswoman in Seoul.

The following G20 summit is scheduled for June in Canada.

As new chair of the group of the world's 20 most important economies, Seoul is determined to drive reform of the financial markets, South Korean President Lee Myung Bak said at Davos, Switzerland, in January.

Suggestions for such a reform are to be put on the table for consideration in the run-up to November's summit in the South Korean capital.
