At least 17 people died on Thursday after a traffic accident in southern Peru, local media reported on Thursday, dpa reported.
The accident occurred late Wednesday in the route Cusco-Sicuani in Quispicanchi province, 1,150 km southeast Lima and two hours away from Cusco city.
So far, six bodies have been recovered from Vilcanota River, while a person died at the Cusco regional hospital, the report said.
According to local media, a bus which was heading from Puno to Cusco suddenly crashed at rear of other bus.
As result of this, the driver from the first bus lost control and his vehicle ended up rolling down a slope onto Vilcanota River.
