At least two dead in fire at India oil depot

At least two people were killed in a fire at a state-run oil depot in India's western state of Gujarat on Sunday, police said, DPA reported.

About 100 firemen were fighting the blaze that broke out at in a petrol storage tanks at the Indian Oil Corporation's storage facility in Surat district on Saturday afternoon.

"Bodies of two unidentified men, probably workers, were recovered from near the tank that is nearly gutted," inspector Ravindra Pathak, said from the police control room in Surat.

"The blaze has been controlled from spreading to eight other tanks containing petrol and diesel," he said.

The cause of the fire was not yet known.
