Suicide bombing kills six in north-west Pakistan

At least six people, including a tribal elder, were killed and 12 injured Monday in a suicide bombing in Pakistan's restive north-west region, police said, dpa reported.

The attacker rammed his explosive-rigged motorbike into the car of Malik Ghazi Marjan Khan in the Dowaba area of Hangu district, said Muhammad Rahim from the local police station.

It is unknown why the tribal elder was targeted. Police said one of Khan's brothers survived a suicide bombing a few years ago.

No one claimed responsibility for the attack, but Taliban active in the area frequently target both civilians and security forces.

Separately, two experts from a bomb disposal squad were killed when the explosive they were defusing detonated in the Jamal Abad area of Swabi district, local police official Abid Ali told dpa.

Violence has been unabated in Pakistan despite repeated operations across the country by army and police.
