Japan believes that 'most likely' the chemical weapon was used in Syria and this fact should not remain unanswered, Japanese Foreign Affairs Ministry Press secretary Kuni Sato said, RIA Novosti reported.
"Japan believes that most probably chemical weapon was used in Syria and Japan supposes that the use of chemical weapons must not remain unanswered," Sato said during the G20 Summit which is being held in suburbs of St.Petersburg.
The situation in Syria escalated after August 21 when it was reported that the chemical weapon was used by government forces during the operations against militants near Damascus.
Western countries, including the USA and Great Britain used this unconfirmed information and began speaking about the possible military intervention in Syrian conflict bypassing the UN.
