Blogs run by officials can help facilitate governance in society, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said Thursday, Xihua reported.
As "a necessary segment of communication," Medvedev, who was marking the first anniversary of his personal video blog, said blogs can help people receive important information and better understand each other.
"The most valuable thing is that they are ready to not only complain about problems, but also offer options to resolve these problems; and often, these options are absolutely unconventional," Medvedev said.
The president's video blog contains some 110,000 comments and Medvedev thanked all of the participants for theier remarks.
He also promised that "systemic work with blogs will continue, despite the fact that some colleagues believe that it is not the president's job," according to the Itar-Tass news agency.
An enthusiastic netizen who read news from websites every day, Medvedev opened his blog at the Kremlin website last October in an effort to present his positions on a variety of issues.
