Two sentenced for 2007 attack on Russian train, same as hit in 2009

Two men were were handed jail sentences by a Russian court Friday for their involvement in a 2007 attack on a Moscow-St Petersburg train, the same line that was bombed again this past November, reported the Interfax news agency.

The two men, from the troubled Russian republic of Ingushetia, were found guilty of illegal possession of explosives in the attack, which left 60 people injured. The two avoided terrorism charges, but were handed sentences of 10 and four years, DPA reported.

The two have continued to protest their innocence and are expected to appeal the decision.

The Nevsky Express line was attacked again in November. Twenty- seven people died in that bombing. The mastermind behind both attacks is believed to still be on the loose.
