Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has called for the resignation of all responsible sports functionaries following Russia's worst performance at a Winter Olympics.
"If they don't go of their own accord, we'll happily help them on their way," Medvedev was quoted by the Interfax news agency Monday as saying.
Russia, which will host the 2014 Winter Games in the Black Sea resort of Sochi, finished down in 11th place in the medals table after winning 15 medals, just three of which were gold - less than half the target set before the Vancouver Games began, DPA reported.
At the Turin Winter Olympics in 2006, Russian won 22 medals, including eight golds.
