Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin arrived here early Friday morning for a one-day official visit, reported local TV channel Times Now.
Putin will meet with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and will attend the signing ceremony for a series of cooperative agreements with India in the fields of defense, nuclear energy and trade, according to Indian officials, Xinhua reported.
During the visit, the two countries are expected to settle the final deal on the sale by Russia to India of aircraft carrier Admiral Gorshkov and will decide on the building of a nuclear plant in the eastern Indian state of West Bengal with Russian nuclear technology, according to local media reports.
India is also expected to sign with Russia agreements on the purchase of more Mig-29k fighters and Sukoi-30 MKI fighters.
