Russia and Uzbekistan are interested in strong power in Kyrgyzstan, President Dmitry Medvedev said at a meeting with his Uzbek counterpart Islam Karimov here on Tuesday, Itar-Tass reported.

Medvedev said that he and Karimov had already discussed the situation in Kyrgyzstan on Monday. "It is clear that both Russia and Uzbekistan are interested in the Kyrgyz authorities to be strong, in the Kyrgyz nation to develop and flourish, in the Kyrgyz state to correspond to the idea of the Kyrgyz people about their future" Medvedev said.

Karimov stressed that he was going to discuss in the Kremlin on Tuesday "ways of ensuring stability and security in our troubled Central Asian Region, specifically, Central Asia, as well as the developments that took place in Kyrgyzstan on Monday and Tuesday."
