Lukashenko: statements by Russian officials humiliate Belarusian people

The statements made by the top officials of Russia humiliate the people of Belarus, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with Foreign Minister of Russia Sergei Lavrov on 22 June, BelTA has learnt.

"I would like to inform you publicly about the conflict that is growing into a gas war between Gazprom and Belarus. They say that it is a dispute between the economic entities, but I do not understand how come this dispute has reached the level of the government of the country. This is no longer a dispute between the economic entities. Excuse me, when they start humiliating us mentioning cutlets, sausages, butter or pancakes - we take it as an insult to the Belarusian people. This is not the way a president, moreover the president of an allied state, should behave," Alexander Lukashenko said.

The head of state underlined that Belarus did not expect such cynicism from Russia's government.
