Federal judge killed in Russia's North Caucasus

Unidentified assailants on Wednesday have murdered a federal judge in a village of Russia's North Caucasus republic of Kabardino-Balklaria, Xinhua reported.
  
"A car carrying Dzhulber Bykov came under fire when it approached his home. He died from wounds he sustained," said a local law enforcement source as quoted by the Interfax news agency.
  
The assassination could be connected to the judge's professional duties, said the source.
  
In the neighboring republic of Ingushetia, unknown attackers fired three grenades at a border guard unit in the capital of Nazran. No reports on the casualties have been made so far.
  
Violence is common in Russia's North Caucasus republics, especially Chechnya, Dagestan and Ingushetia, with militants frequently targeting police and officials.
  
Last Sunday, twin suicide bombings rocked a military training base in another North Caucasus republic of Dagestan, killing three servicemen and injuring over 30 others.
  
Russian media said the terrorist attack was a countermove from insurgents against the recent series of special operations conducted in the republic.
