Five people were injured after two cars collided on a highway in the Primorye Territory, in Russia's Far East, a local traffic police source said on Wednesday, RIA Novosti reported.
"The accident happened in the Khasansky district of the territory on the Razdolnoye-Khasan highway. A car swerved in an oncoming lane and head-crashed with another car," the source said.
A driver and three passengers, including a year and a half-old child and eight month-old baby, from the car that hit the oncoming lane were hospitalized with serious injuries. A driver of the other car was also injured and hospitalized, he added.
According to statistics, 30,000 people lose their lives in traffic accidents every year in Russia due to the poor state of highway networks and reckless driving.
