The U.S. military says an American soldier has been killed in an accident in Kuwait, AP reported.
The brief statement says the accident, which took place on Thursday, is under investigation. There were no further details.
The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Kuwait is a major U.S. ally and a logistics base for U.S. troops serving in Iraq.
The small oil-rich state in the Gulf signed a defense pact with Washington after the U.S.-led 1991 Gulf War liberated it from a seven-month Iraqi occupation under Saddam Hussein.
