The number of deaths linked to unexpected acceleration by Toyota Motor Corp cars has risen to 34, according to the data from US Transportation Department published Monday, DPA reported.
The updated figure followed massive publicity about the problem with sticky fuel pedals on certain Toyota models. The company has recalled almost 8 million cars worldwide due to the problem.
A database maintained by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration now shows 34 deaths related to the problem, the Bloomberg financial news agency reported.
