A partial evacuation of the US embassy in the Swedish capital, Stockholm, was conducted Wednesday after a letter with what police called "unknown content" arrived in the mail, dpa reported.
Police and emergency services were at the embassy and cooperating with embassy staff, Stockholm police said.
Embassy spokesman Jeff Anderson told dpa the embassy and Swedish authorities were "investigating a possible security incident" but declined to offer further details.
The embassy has about 150 employees but there were no initial details about how many where at work.
