A protest rally against the outcome of the presidential election in Armenia was held in Los Angeles in front of the Armenian Consulate building on February 21, Armenia Today says.

'While the effects of fraud during the elections are not yet eliminated and the official figures released by the Central Election Commission don't engender confidence, considering Serzh Sargsyan as re-elected President is unacceptable.

'Through the protest rally we demand punishment of the fraudsters and call on all organisations and institutions in Diaspora to refrain from offering premature congratulations to Serzh Sargsyan on his victory', a statement released by the organisers said.

Presidential elections were held in Armenia on Feb.18. Incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan won the presidential elections with 58.64 per cent of the vote. The First Foreign Minister of Armenia Raffi Hovannisian ranked second winning 36.75 per cent, while former Prime Minister Hrant Bagratyan ranked third after receiving 2.15 per cent of the vote.
