According to the information received regarding the violations during presidential elections in Armenia, 104 cases are currently under discussion, Armenian Report said with reference to the press service of the Armenian police.

According to the information received regarding the violations during presidential elections in Armenia, 104 cases are currently under discussion, Armenian Report said with reference to the press service of the Armenian police.

Of these, 37 are related to distribution of electoral bribes, 20 - multiple voting cases, 14 - preventing citizens from exercising their electoral rights, 12 - obstructing execution of powers of candidate trustees, observers, media representatives, authorized party representatives, 10 - violation of the secrecy of voting, 5 - falsification of elections or voting results, 1 - agitation and 5 other violations (inaccuracies in the voter list, dispute in the polling station, theft at the polling station, intentional damage to property near the polling station, the illegal hack of e-mail account).

Criminal cases have been initiated under four of the above mentioned cases (based on Article 153 and 43-153 of the Criminal Code of Armenia) and a preliminary investigation is conducted.

Two cases with the same content were attached to a single case. According to the report, eight cases were sent to the Special Investigation Service, decision to refuse opening criminal investigation was made under 43 cases, of which 31 were submitted by the investigation body, 12 - preliminary investigation body and preparation continues under 46 cases.

Of these 104 cases, 41 were submitted from Yerevan with the remaining 63 from the regions.

Presidential elections were held in Armenia on Feb.18. Incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan won the presidential elections with 58.64 per cent of the vote. The First Foreign Minister of Armenia Raffi Hovannisian ranked second winning 36.75 per cent, while former Prime Minister Hrant Bagratyan ranked third after receiving 2.15 per cent of the vote.
