Armenia has the highest unemployment rate in the CIS, according to the report of the International Labor Organization of the United Nations titled "Global Unemployment trends in 2014", Mediamax reported on Jan.22.

The unemployment rate in Armenia in 2013 was equal to 18.64 percent, according to the report. This figure amounted to 17.3 percent in 2012.

"In general, the unemployment rate in Central and South-Eastern Europe is higher than in CIS where Armenia is a sole leader," the report said.

The following countries lag behind Armenia for the unemployment rate: Georgia (14.32 percent), Uzbekistan (10.76 percent), Tajikistan (10.76 percent), Turkmenistan (10.69 percent), Kyrgyzstan (7.9 percent).

The unemployment rate in Azerbaijan is 5.54 percent, according to the report.
