The Russian Grozny-Avia company's bid on initiating direct flights from occupied Simferopol to Yerevan was rejected, the General Department of Civil Aviation under the Armenian government said, Armenia Today reported.

The bid was rejected because of deficiencies in the submitted documents. After their removal, the bid will be reconsidered, spokesman for the Armenian General Department of Civil Aviation Ruben Grdzelyan said.

The former head of the department Shahen Petrosyan said that the flights to the unrecognized republic of Crimea will negatively affect Armenia's international reputation and can even lead to sanctions.

Transport Minister of the unrecognized republic of Crimea Anatoly Tsurkin said that Grozny-Avia airline's Simferopol-Yerevan flights will begin on Nov.16. Moreover, the flights were planned to be regular - weekly on Sundays.
