Armenia, Belarus discuss co-op within EAU

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan held a telephone conversation with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko, the press service of the head of Armenian state said, ARKA News Agency reported.

"The leaders of the two countries discussed issues of development of the Armenian-Belarusian relations and cooperation within the Eurasian Economic Union," said the message.

The parliament of Armenia ratified the agreement on accession of the country to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAU) at the meeting Dec. 4.

Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan signed in May and ratified the agreement on establishment of the EAU starting from Jan. 1, 2015.
On Oct. 10, an agreement was signed in Minsk, Belarus, for Armenia's joining the EAU.

The Eurasian Economic Union (EAU) is an economic union, which is being created as part of the Eurasian integration on the basis of the Customs Union of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus starting from Jan. 1, 2015.
