Former head of the Gyumri military police, Colonel Ashot Zakarian has been recently appointed head of the Sisian military police, Chairman of the Regional Council of Yerkrapah Union Yura Aleksanyan told Aravot news agency.
Ashot Zakarian has served as chief of the Gyumri military police for 10 years - 1993-2003.
During the 2008 presidential election, he supported the candidacy of President Levon Ter-Petrosyan. Therefore, a criminal case was filed towards him and Ter-Petrosyan's other like-minded people. He was arrested.
