Five nationals of Armenia were killed in the plane crash in South Sudan Nov. 4, RIA Novosti quoted Tigran Mkrtchyan, head of the press, information and public relations department at Armenian foreign ministry, as saying.

Mkrtchyan, referring to Armenia's embassy in Egypt, said that all of Armenia's nationals killed in the crash were crew members.

A cargo plane, with five crew embers and seven passengers on-board crashed right after take-off from the airport of Juba, the capital of South Sudan. Local media have reported that the plane was flying to the city of Paloch.

Earlier, Reuters said that an eyewitness saw the aircraft lying across the White Nile River. Reuters also said an eyewitness counted over 40 bodies at the crash site, but it is unclear how many of those were on board.

A source in the local police said there were 41 killed. Two people survived in the crash.
