Over 60 people have been detained by police in Khoreantsi street and the adjacent area where an armed group has been seizing a police regiment for already 12 days, news.am reported. Five of them were taken to the Investigation Committee, police said in a statement.
According to earlier reports, members of the initiative group had been detained. Among those detained was also Canadian-Armenian actress Arsinee Khanjian.
The armed group seized the headquarters of the police and interior troops in Erebuni, Yerevan, July 17, demanding the release of the participant of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, coordinator of the opposition Armenian civil initiative ‘Founding Parliament’ Zhirayr Sefilyan.
