ARMENIA SATISFIED WITH HEARINGS AT PACE SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON NAGORNO-KARABAKH IN PARIS

(Regnum) вЂ" Tigran Torosian, the head of the Armenian delegation at PACE, also vice-speaker of the Armenian National Meeting, positively appreciated the hearings of the PACE Special Committee on Nagorno-Karabakh taken place in Paris on Monday.

Denis Samut, the representative of the British Linsy NGO, delivered a report on the prehistory of the conflict and current situation. “The report was interest and balanced, and formed impartial opinion on the conflict," Torosian noted.

The positions of the sides were presented by Varujan Nersian, the chief the division of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Araz Azimov, the Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Then participants of the hearings got familiar with the reports by Bernard Fasie, France, and Yuriy Merzlyakov, Russia, co-chairmen of the PACE Minsk Group, also Steven Mann, the representative of the American co-chairman.

The speeches based on the idea that it was impossible to solve the problem only with principle of territorial integrity or peoples’ self-determination, but application of both principles of the Helsinki agreement was needed.

Anjey Kaspshik, the personnel representative of the acting head of the OSCE, and Horan Lenmarker, the special representative on Nagorno-Karabakh, also delivered report. The latter focused on the settlement of the conflict with the conferring wide autonomy to Nagorno-Karabakh in the composition of Azerbaijan.
