Georgian Foreign Ministry does not have official information about the detention of 13 of its citizens suspected of involvement in criminal groups in Spain. As Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze said on Monday at a traditional briefing, the Spanish authorities have not yet provided information to the Georgian consulate about the detention of these people which include four women in Biscay.

"We first knew about it from media outlets and are now awaiting official information from law enforcement authorities in Spain, after which we will begin to act," she said.

According to Spanish media outlets, 13 Georgian citizens were detained in Biscay, allegedly involved in the activities of organised criminal groups engaged in burglary. Spanish police believe that this group may be part of a larger one.
