No one can turn Georgia away from the path of Euro-Atlantic integration, Georgian foreign minister Grigol Vashadze said to journalists on Thursday after the meeting with vice president of German Bundestag Wolfgang Thierse.

No one can turn Georgia away from the path of Euro-Atlantic integration, Georgian foreign minister Grigol Vashadze said to journalists on Thursday after the meeting with vice president of German Bundestag Wolfgang Thierse.

"First of all, I would like to thank our German guest for visiting Georgia and witnessing democratic elections and the first peaceful and constitutional transfer of power in our country. We express our gratitude to him for the support of Germany to Georgia since the restoration of independence, and assure him that no one can turn Georgia away from the path of Euro-Atlantic integration," Vashadze noted.

In his turn, Thierse stressed that Germany will support Georgia's aspiration to EU and NATO.

Parliamentary elections were held in Georgia on a mixed - list, majority system. Around 150 MPs must be elected - 77 on the lists (a passing barrier of five per cent) and 73 - single-seat constituencies.

According to data of Georgian Central Election Committee, after the complete count of preliminary information, Georgian Dream candidates are leading in 38 majority districts, United National Movement leaders- in 34 districts.
