The change of power in Georgia will not affect relations with the European Union, EU Commissioner for Home Affairs Cecilia Malmström said. This statement was made at a press conference held on Monday following a meeting with Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze.

Malmström also stressed the complicacy of sharing.

"The peaceful change of power that took place in October will not affect relations between the EU and Georgia which at this stage are good. Cohabitation is not such an easy process.

It may seem difficult even for the EU member states, but it is part of the democratic process which is necessary to be managed given the constructive approach of all parties," Malmström said.
