The Board of Trustees of the Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) has dismissed its Director General Giorgi Baratashvili.

According to the Trustees, Baratashvili was dismissed as he could not resolve the intense and unhealthy situation on the TV channel. The decision was taken after the head of channel's Information Service of Board.

Giorgi Bakradze has been appointed as Acting Director General of Public Broadcaster. As the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Georgian Public Broadcaster Levan Gakheladze told journalists, the Acting CEO will work in this post until the appointment of a new appointee.

According to Gakheladze, from today a relevant vacancy has been announced for the post. Documents from those who want to take up the post of Director General of Public Broadcaster will be accepted until March 14. However, Levan Gakheladze stressed that under the law that any new CEO should be appointed no later than April 4.
