Georgia, Tbilisi, June 4 / Trend, N. Kirtzkhalia /

Allegedly in two weeks, more charges will be pressed against the former Prime Minister, Secretary General of the National Movement Vano Merabishvili.

As the chief prosecutor of Georgia Archil Kbilashvili said today at a press-conference, it is about the Sandro Girgvliani Case, including improper conduct during the investigation after his death and pressure against the investigation allowing senior officials, including Bacho Akhalaia to avoid responsibility. This was also done to avoid mentioning the name of Vano Merabishvili's wife.
According to Kbilashvili, nothing has been finalized in connection with other episodes so far.

He also commented on Vano Merabishvili's term in prison and noted that this issue should be decided by the court.

Merabishvili and former Minister of Labour, Health and Social Affairs Zurab Chiaberashvili, who until recently served as the Governor of Kakheti region, were arrested on May 21 on charges of creating fictitious jobs for supporters of the National Movement during the implementation of the 2012 public employment program.

This is the first episode surrounding the opposition leaders. the second episode involves the appropriation of exclusive villa on the coast of the Black Sea in the village of Kvariati (Adjara Autonomous Republic) and embezzlement of the funds from the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
