Tbilisi Sakrebulo and one of the largest trade and industrial cities of China, Guangzhou signed a memorandum on cooperation.

The document was signed by the chairman of Tbilisi Sakrebulo (City Council) Irakli Shikhiashvili and Mayor of Guangzhou Chen Jia Huang.

According to the parties' statement, this memorandum will be a corner stone for establishment of close economic relations between the two cities, Tbilisi Sakrebulo told Trend.

"A very important meeting was held with the leadership of the municipality of one of the largest trade and industrial cities of China, Guangzhou and a memorandum on strengthening relations and cooperation was signed. This document created a base for establishing strong economic relations between the Georgian and Chinese sides which means active cooperation in the sphere of tourism, infrastructure projects, urban planning and so on," Shikhiashvili said.

During the visit, the Georgian side also met with the leadership of Guangdong province.

At the initiative of Shihiashvili, the Chinese side became familiarized with a proposal to hold economic and trade exhibitions in Tbilisi and Guangzhou to increase exports and imports.

The Georgian delegation will return to Tbilisi on Jan.18.
