Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili at the World Economic Forum in Davos met with the executive director of the famous French company LAFARGE, Bruno Lafont.
As the Prime Minister's press service reported on Jan.24, during the meeting the sides discussed the possibilities of investing in the country's economy and the prospects for development of the production sphere.

Garibashvili said that over the last decade, growth in the construction sector of the country has led to the development of the production of building materials.

He stressed that Georgia also plans to build large hydropower plants that will lead to a growing demand for concrete and cement in the country.

LAFARGE is a French industrial company which specialises in the production of cement, concrete and drywall. It is the largest cement producer in the world.

The press service also reported that the Georgian Prime Minister met with the executive director of BLACKSTONE, Stephen Schwarzman in Davos.

The company has expressed interest in the Georgian business environment and conditions of investing in the country's economy. In addition, during the meeting the sides also talked about the Co-investment Fund which was established in September last year at the initiative of the former Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili to support foreign and local investors. The fund's budget is six billion dollars.
BLACKSTONE is the largest company in the areas of investment and consultation. It was founded in 1985 with headquarters in New York.
