Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Alasania believes that the assessment of the NATO Military Committee will be of great importance in addressing the issue of Georgia at the alliance's next summit.

"The visit of the military committee will begin tomorrow. Its importance lies in the fact that our military reforms strategy will be evaluated," the minister told journalists on Monday.

He stressed that Georgia's steps made over the past year and a half will be assessed.

"I have great hope and cautious optimism that the assessment will be high, as it is not the first time in recent years when NATO assessments are being conducted, and we always get not only a high qualification, but also support," Alasania said.

He stressed that the NATO Military Committee is not a political body.

"But we all understand that their assessment will be a great factor in solving our issue at the alliance's next summit," Alasania said.
