Tbilisi court keeps former envoy of Georgian ex-president in custody

Tbilisi, Georgia, March 2
By Nana Kirtzkhalia - Trend:

The Tbilisi City Court kept former envoy of the Georgian ex-president in the Kodori Gorge (Abkhazia) Emzar Kvitsiani in custody.

The court granted the prosecutor's office's petition about keeping Kvitsiani in custody, based on the risk that he might abscond.

The lawyer urged to abolish detention or release him on bail or on parole.

Some 30 generals, including former Defense Ministers Gia Karkarashvili and David Tevzadze vouched for Kvitsiani.

Kvitsiani's lawyer will not appeal.
