Georgian prosecutor general's office appealed on March 14 to the parliament to give permission to start prosecution of the ex-Defense Minister Bacho Akhalaia's father, MP Roland Akhalaia.

The prosecutor general's office said the investigation revealed that in December 2009, Roland Akhalaia occupying the post of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti district's prosecutor, acted in his own interests and exceeded the official authority for the purpose of profit.

Two sons of the MP - former Defense Minister Bacho Akhalaia and former head of the Interior Ministry's Constitutional Security Department Davit Akhalaia were sentenced by the court to different imprisonment terms.

Roland Akhalaia himself claims that he is under pressure.
